First-time buyer Harrison Flynn feels a real sense of achievement at getting on the property ladder aged 28.

So much so that he enjoys nothing more than relaxing with a whiskey while enjoying the view of the surrounding fields from his new apartment at Bellway’s Tattenhoe Park development in Milton Keynes.

Harrison, who works in recruitment for the NHS, had his sights set on buying his own place ever since he was 19.

Now, almost a decade later, he has finally achieved his dream after swapping a one-bedroom maisonette in Loughton, for a two-bedroom apartment at Tattenhoe Park, where he moved in on 5 June.

Harrison said: “As a first-time buyer, it felt great finally getting on the property ladder. I felt a real sense of achievement as this is something I’ve wanted to do since I was about 19. This way, I am able to pay off a mortgage instead of giving my money to somebody else - more money in my pocket in the long run.”

Harrison had been looking for a place to buy for around two or three years but couldn’t find anything suitable until he discovered Bellway’s forthcoming Tattenhoe Park development while searching online.

“A number of things about Tattenhoe Park caught my attention: the design of the houses; the amount of open space and neighbouring fields with no intent of being built on. The style of architecture at Tattenhoe Park is unique to other sites previously visited, particularly a difference in brickwork and how much nicer it looked.

“I didn’t always intend to buy a new build, but the fact you can design the place how you want, that new builds require a lack of maintenance and that it comes with a 10-year warranty, were all factors which made me choose a new build. I believe you get more for your money that way.

“I chose this particular apartment due to the size. It has more space than others on the site and only a couple of this particular apartment type were built, so it holds value and is an investment opportunity for me further down the line. I especially like that I don’t look at another block of flats from my terrace - I just see fields. I am able to enjoy a whiskey looking out at the fields in peace.

“Now I’ve moved in, my favourite room is the open-plan kitchen diner. It’s spacious and where I spend most of my time. In comparison to my old place, it’s definitely an upgrade size wise. When I finally got my keys, I felt relieved and keen to start making it a home.”

Describing what he likes about the location, Harrison said: “I love the area, how I am positioned on the edge of Milton Keyes and in a quiet neighbourhood. You can sense a community starting to form here. Tattenhoe Park is great for families, there is a primary school a stone’s throw away. I really can’t ask for much more in a place to live.

“When I heard about Tattenhoe Park, I drove around the area and knew it was a good place to be, in a good spot of Milton Keynes, in the corner but still able to commute anywhere. I didn’t want to be located centrally, and here I’ve got good access to the M1 to visit my family in Northampton. It is also only a 10-minute drive to the Milton Keynes shopping centre, so I am close to all the amenities I might need.”

Harrison said he would recommend Bellway to his friends and family, adding: “The site team have been brilliant, especially Paula and Sylvia, they’ve been particularly helpful. They will always respond quickly and are on the ball with any queries.

“Site manager Patrick is my go-to man for any snagging issues that needed sorting out. He even gave me his mobile, so if I had a problem, he’d get someone to fix it with no hassle.”

There is a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses currently available at Tattenhoe Park, with prices starting from £210,000.

At selected sites including Tattenhoe Park, housebuyers can save up to £24,000 using Bellway’s mortgage contribution scheme, if purchased before Thursday 30 November 2023.
