We’ve all seen Santa’s grotto. A cosy wooden cabin, roaring log fire, floor to ceiling stone fireplace, and an imposing armchair sitting proudly next to a twinkling Christmas tree.

But have you ever wondered what the big man’s home might look like if he lived right here in Blighty? Well, wonder no more. Because the busy elves at St. Modwen Homes have been tinkering away in their AI workshop to reimagine St. Nick’s pad in iconic cities across the UK.

By utilising AI’s local expertise, knowledge, and creativity, the housebuilder has brought Santa’s grotto to life like you’ve never seen before. There are lots of special features for you to find across all five of Santa’s grottos – can you spot them all?

First up, London. Set in a Victorian terrace house, this living room is all about traditional features combined with eclectic touches. Think original fireplaces, picture rails and herringbone flooring paired with dark green walls, statement wallpaper, and vintage furniture.

It’s classic but trendy with bags of personality, perfectly representing modern day London for Santa. Not mentioning, it’s the ideal spot for the big man himself to enjoy his mince pie and cuppa while he finalises his Christmas 2023 itinerary on his MacBook Pro.

A short sleigh ride away in Birmingham, Santa’s grotto is giving more Skandi minimalist vibes – a modern day trend that us Brummie’s love to embrace in our abodes. Situated in an industrial apartment, this living room features oak wood floor, neutral décor, earthy tones, fluffy soft furnishings, and an unmistakable view of Birmingham’s Christmas market.

Look closely and you’ll see some tributes to the city, including a bronze bull ornament (hey Bully!), a ‘Gift Picking’ degree certificate from Birmingham City University, and a tribute to Birmingham’s own, Ozzy Osbourne.

Edgy with a touch of industrial-cool, Santa’s modern Manchester apartment features exposed brick walls, tall ceilings, and black trim windows – with a stunning view of the city to complete the stylish pad.

This Santa is a proud Mancunian, so you’ll find him by his Oasis poster, watching a Man City football match on the box, while he peruses his record collection of iconic Manchester artists. A set up that even Jack Grealish would be proud of.

Over to the city of Cardiff where Santa is enjoying some light reading of his self-proclaimed novel in this lush Victorian cottage. The exposed beams, stone walls, neutral décor and cosy cream rug makes for an ideal setting for Mr & Mrs Claus to ‘Netflix and cwtch’ with the iconic Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special. Oh, Oh, Oh, Merry Christmas!

On display around the room, you’ll see crafts and artwork showcasing Cardiff’s vibrant creative community. And no Welsh living room would be complete without a classic rugby poster and a cup of piping hot tea, that even Nessa would enjoy.

The final stop is bonnie Scotland and this Edwardian house in Edinburgh is the perfect festive hideaway for Mr. Claus. The living room features wooden flooring, antique furniture, historic artwork, and ambient lighting, creating that moody but cosy wintry vibe.

Santa is embracing his inner artiste is his cosy living room, whilst of course donning a suitably tartan ‘fit…but he can feel a draught coming from somewhere.
