Support available for Caerphilly households to improve energy efficiency

Support is now available to improve the energy efficiency of eligible households in the Caerphilly county borough.
Caerphilly County Borough Council is working with energy companies and Cardiff Capital Region (representing the ten local authorities of Southeast Wales) to support households in poorly insulated homes; making them more energy efficiency and helping lessen the impact of rising energy bills.
As part of the national ECO4 and ECO Flex schemes, EDF and other energy companies will be investing in energy efficiency community schemes to support ‘fuel poor’ homes and those households that include individuals with health conditions exacerbated by living in a cold home.
Through its partnership with Cardiff Capital Region and EDF, Caerphilly Council is encouraging applications from households in the borough that own or privately rent their homes and:

Have an existing EPC on their home rated E or below, and
-
Receive welfare support, or
-
Have a household income of below £31,000, or
-
Have a qualifying health condition, e.g. cardiovascular, respiratory, immunosuppressed or limited mobility.
Support is available for homes both on and off gas. For homes which are currently heated by gas, the existing boiler must be a back boiler or floor standing boiler, typically at least 18 years old and non condensing.

Time is running out to apply for empty homes grant
Caerphilly County Borough Council is urging owners of empty homes, who wish to live in their property, to apply for a grant to help with renovations.
Through the Welsh Government National Empty Home Grant Programme, grants of up to £25,000 are available to renovate empty properties to make them safe to live in and improve their energy efficiency.
The grant is available for owner occupiers to renovate homes that have been empty for at least 12 months. For more information and to apply visit Housing Grants | National Empty Homes Grant Wales
