  • Maximalism, warm designs and personality are set to dominate interior design trends in 2025 - but if you’re planning to sell your house, which trend is going to help you sell it for above the asking price?

Top 5 interior trends to go above asking price, according to Liv:

  1. Embrace minimalism with a twist: Forget plain white walls - soft greys, oatmeal, and muted terracotta shades are the new must-haves. These colours add depth and cosiness without being too bold.

  2. Cosy chic trend: Combine warm tones with textured throws or boucle armchairs to create a contemporary yet inviting atmosphere.

  3. Yes, WFH is still a trend: A chic work-from-home space is a priority for many buyers. Stylish desks, ergonomic chairs, and even clever shelving solutions can help showcase this essential feature.

  4. Biophilic design: Ditch the fake flowers for fresh ones as now more than ever, buyers are looking for architectural styles that incorporate natural elements in their spaces.

  5. Statement lightning: Buyers love homes that feel bright and welcoming. Use recessed lighting, table lamps, and under-cabinet LEDs to add depth and dimension. “Natural light is best, but layered lighting creates an expensive feel,” Liv explains.

 What to avoid:

  1. Maximalism: Despite maximalism being a huge trend still in 2025, bold wallpapers or family photos make it hard for buyers to picture themselves living there. Keep it simple.

  2. Nostalgic kitchens: While retro designs can be fun and are a huge trend for next year too, a nostalgic kitchen filled with outdated appliances or retro colour schemes could alienate buyers. This could hurt your chances of securing a sale.

  3. All-white: A home that feels too sterile, with stark white walls and empty spaces, can lack warmth and personality. “In 2025, buyers are craving warmth, comfort, and lived-in aesthetics, so balancing minimalism with personality is crucial,” says Liv.
