VOZA TRANSFORMS CHELSEA PERIOD BLOCK INTO COLLECTION OF ELEGANT APARTMENTS

VOZA, leading prime London design and construction specialists, have recently completed a spectacular transformation of a period mansion block on Sloane Gardens, Chelsea. Managing all aspects of the project from the interior concepts, technical architectural design and construction delivery VOZA has completed the back to brick renovation of the 19th Century building to create three wonderful residences.
The building has been completely reconfigured internally to create three elegant apartments, each of which has been individually designed. All interior fittings and finishes have been carefully curated, whilst period features, such as the original wooden staircase has been sympathetically restored and brought back to their former glory.
Originally a duplex apartment across the lower ground and ground floors and triplex across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, VOZA have recalibrated the internal configuration, with a single unit on the lower ground floor, a duplex on the ground and first floors and a further duplex unit complete with private roof terrace crowning the building.

Set to be privately rented, the interiors have been shaped by VOZA’s inhouse design studio to display a sense of character that will attract those looking for a turnkey residence in the heart of London.
The interior palette is a modern interpretation of traditional British design, with natural oak flooring, stained oak doors and panelling is lightly contrasted by copper light doors, shaker cabinetry and feature stone worktops. Whilst the main living spaces and bedrooms display a calming neutral tone, bold tiling in the bathrooms and colour matched kitchens add personality.

Considered use of fabrics across each apartment provide rich texture and warmth across the scheme. Woven carpets and linen blinds have been included throughout, whilst feature fabric headboards and hand-picked furniture in the living spaces enhance the honest and ‘traditionally British’ style.
Alex Pope, Design Partner at VOZA, added: “The overarching brief for this project was to create homes for modern living whilst remaining in tune with the history and character of the period building. We wanted to create warm and rich spaces, whilst being honest with the materials we used, which is clearly seen in the lovely oak flooring and joinery throughout.
“The synergy of the interiors palette and the furniture is intentionally loose. This idiosyncrasy helps give the development character and a sense of personality without being overbearing.”

VOZA’s transformation of the Sloane Gardens mansion block includes the creation of a spectacular roof terrace. Accessed through an electronically retractable skylight, the space has been decked and landscaped to provide a serene private outside space close to one London’s busiest districts.
Felix Langlois, Partner at VOZA, commented: “The transformation has been one of our largest and most complex projects to date. Aside from the retained staircase everything else within the building is completely new – including the installation of a new passenger lift to all floors.
“Ultimately, the client brief was to reshape the building to drive the best possible rentals and we saw the solution as three good sized apartments over two large units that left a lot of redundant area. We managed to consolidate the common parts so that it only travelled up to the ground floor half landing on the original stairs, which then allowed us to create more economical apartment layouts.”

Works also included the fitting of brand-new double-glazed windows, to improve energy efficiency and noise reduction, the installation of a new roof and refreshing the iconic façade.
Now complete the apartments are available to rent with prices starting from £1,250 per week.
Sloane Gardens is a highly sought after residential street within a stone’s throw from the amenities of Sloane Square and the King’s Road.
