A recent survey by Firechief Global revealed that over 2 million renters in the UK do not have a smoke alarm installed in their homes, a concerning figure, especially in light of recent incidents like the Dagenham fire in East London. While 93% of households in England reported owning a working smoke alarm as of March 2023—a steady increase from 87% in 2012—it's alarming that 23% of these households have never tested their alarms, according to Fire Prevention and Protection Statistics for England. This highlights the critical need to install and regularly test smoke alarms to ensure safety.
