NEW SCOTLAND PLACE HOMES IN HASLEMERE TAP INTO LATEST BUYING TRENDS
A boutique collection of new homes at Scotland Place in Haslemere, Surrey, is set to tap into the latest homebuying trend: bungalows. Available through Sovereign Network Group (SNG), the Shared Ownership homes at Scotland Place include two- and three-bedroom terraced houses and two-bedroom bungalows.
Bungalows have long been popular with downsizers whose children have grown up and flown the nest but are now increasingly attracting attention from young first-time buyers. Google Trends shows that online interest in bungalows has risen by 53% since 2004 in the UK.
With its spacious bungalows and stylish terraced houses, Scotland Place is well positioned to meet the needs of first-time buyers, downsizers and young families alike. Launching later this summer, the homes are centrally located to the historic town of Haslemere. Listed as one of the best places to live in 2023, Haslemere is home to a vibrant mix of independent shops, boutique stores, restaurants and coffee houses.
The homes at Scotland Place will be available through Shared Ownership to buyers with a local connection to Waverley Borough Council. Shared Ownership enables the buyer to purchase an initial share of between 25% and 75% of the property. They pay a reduced rent on the remaining share and a monthly service charge to SNG, then can buy further shares in the property when their finances allow, ‘staircasing’ their way up to full ownership. Depending on the buyer’s affordability, a minimum 5% deposit of the share value is required, providing an affordable way to get onto the property ladder.
Claire Blenkin, Head of Sales (South) at SNG, comments: “We are delighted to be launching such a lovely collection of homes for Surrey house-hunters. Haslemere is a charming town with plenty of appeal to homebuyers seeking to enjoy the local area, along with easy access to London and the south coast. With a selection of property types and sizes available through Shared Ownership, we look forward to welcoming a range of home buyers from the Borough of Waverley at Scotland Place.”
Scotland Place is beautifully positioned between the Surrey Hills and the South Downs National Park, enabling owners to enjoy plenty of time in nature. The homes are also well connected for urban adventures and commuting, with Haslemere train station (1.4 miles from Scotland Place) providing direct services to London Waterloo in under an hour. There are also excellent road links via the A3 to London and the south coast.
For young families, Haslemere has a selection of good primary schools including St Bartholemew’s CofE Primary School and Shottermill Infant and Junior Schools, as well as a selection of independent schools. Nearby Midhurst (15 minutes by car from Scotland Place) has an Outstanding Ofsted-rated academy – Midhurst Rother College – for pupils aged 11-18.
The houses at Scotland Place are anticipated for first completions in early 2025, with reservations available from late summer 2024. Bungalows will be released in 2025. Prices are to be confirmed at the launch of the development. A local connection to the Borough of Waverley is required for all applicants.
