Luxury garden room company sees a shedload of demand for flexible living spaces

Demand for multifunctional spaces in the UK is growing rapidly – and garden rooms are leading the charge.

According to market analysts, the UK multifunctional furniture market is set to hit £7.3 billion by 2032, growing at 7.2 per cent annually. Luxury outdoor room brand Crane Garden Buildings agrees with the data, as it’s seen a substantial rise in homeowners seeking smarter ways to make the most of their space, inside and out. The trend is clear – Brits want more from every inch of their homes.

Sarah Rumbles, Design Expert at Crane Garden Buildings, said: “Over the last five years, we’ve seen more people interested in purchasing their very own garden room, not just for one use, but for several. This can perhaps be attributed to the way we all adapted during COVID, when we had to make the most of our own homes and gardens. Instead of going out to the movies, people created their own home cinemas. Nights out spent at a variety of bars became cocktail making nights at home. Yoga classes became solo sessions, perhaps following an online tutorial.

"Customers want flexibility without compromising on style. One day the garden room is a calm workspace, the next it’s a room to host friends. We’re designing spaces that move with people’s lives and tastes."

Crane’s bespoke garden rooms are crafted with sustainability in mind and built to last. With options ranging from insulated studios to fully lined living spaces, the company has become a go-to for homeowners who want more from their outdoors.

As living trends evolve, it’s clear the garden room has found a new purpose – helping people make room for what matters most.
