Designing with Pink

Pink has officially become a neutral and is being used across our projects;

from Grade 2 listed properties in the countryside, to London flats. Below are a couple of recently completed projects that show us how pink can be an inviting colour to use in your renovation.

The Sutton Valence Project

The lovely clients at the Sutton Valence project used all the quirks of this Grade 2 listed property to create a warm and unforgettable space. Typical of the period, the kitchen was originally a small space, tucked away from the main living area. With a bit of creativity and planning approval, we worked to turn this into a large kitchen, pantry and dining area, complete with a hidden doorway with additional storage.

“There are lots of things I love about the kitchen but I think ultimately it’s how bespoke Herringbone helped us make it. From the legs of the island, the hidden cupboard and the colour. It is our family kitchen but I did take ownership of designing this space and as a house full of boys other than me, I made it is a very feminine space. The kitchen looks traditional but it is set up for modern living - my kids can do their homework whilst I’m cooking, guests drink coffee/wine at the bar stools, setting the table and clean up form the dinning table is an easy family affair with everyone mucking in as its quick and convenient. The entire space is much more social.”

The Parisian Table

Designed and made by our team here in Canterbury, the Parisian Table won for best Product Design at the Paris Design Award 2022. The base can be painted in any colour, this one is painted in Shocking Pink. The top is a beautiful red Rosso Levanto marble. We can design any style table, so get in touch if you have one in mind!

The Shoreditch Project

When they left their first viewing of this ‘fairly delipidated’ house in Shoreditch, the client said to his wife ‘who is ever going to buy that house?'‘ She said ‘us- I love it!’ She could see the potential from the beginning and got to work on making it fit perfectly for their family.

The client is best friends with David, the Studio Manager here at Herringbone. David helped with the entire design of their downstairs (perks of having a designer as a best friend). They used a light pink limewash paint to give it a very continental feel.

You’ll notice this is a bit different from a normal Herringbone House kitchen. In doing his best friends kitchen, David designed a new kitchen range- one that can cleverly be made quicker and easier than some of our more traditional shaker ranges, but that is just as beautiful and works well in modern spaces. This bespoke cabinetry is now called the Shoreditch range and available with generally a shorter lead time, just speak to a Designer.
