Warm brown, taupe and sage green have been declared as key colours for 2025, according to luxury garden room company Crane Garden Buildings.

The brand has seen a surge of people interested in customising the interior and exterior of their new garden room in earthy tones, creating a tranquil sanctuary that acts as an extension of the natural colours found outside.

The Farrow & Ball shade Mouse’s Back is proving particularly popular for external walls with Crane buyers at the moment, with the warm shade being reminiscent of Pantone’s colour of the year – velvety brown tone Mocha Mousse.

Sarah Rumbles, colour and design expert at Crane Garden Buildings, said: “Garden room buyers are looking for a haven which uses natural colours, bringing the outside in and reflecting the tones found in the garden.

“Mouse’s Back is not dissimilar to Pantone’s colour of the year, Mocha Mousse, which evokes a feeling of warmth and sensorial richness, bringing quiet luxury to the garden. It’s an about-turn from previous years when jewel tones and bright colours have reigned.

“Greens are also a perennial favourite for outside furniture, with our Sage colour being a popular choice for external garden room walls. Inside, Elephant’s Breath is a beautiful stone colour which brings the outside in and creates a natural background for the owner’s external style.”
