2024 TRENDS ON SHOW IN THE GARDEN OF ENGLAND

Neutral, calming tones paired with invigorating bright shades are the colours dominating interior design in 2024. Showcasing the perfect blend of calm zones, earthy tones and pops of colour dotted throughout, Elivia Homes’ recently-launched show home, Ivy Cottage, at Summerfield Nurseries has been thoughtfully dressed by Sarah Merrison Interiors. Nestled in the quaint Kent village of Staple, the four-bedroom detached property is ideal for families and right-sizers keen on purchasing a stylish, on-trend home in the Garden of England.

Summerfield Nurseries is an exclusive development of just 17 homes including 11 individually-designed four-bedroom properties for private sale, conveniently sandwiched between Canterbury and the Kent coast. One of the stunning detached properties on offer, Ivy Cottage is a luxurious house that delivers spacious open-plan living areas, four sumptuous bedrooms and a first-class specification.

Aside from a separate study at the front of the house, the ground floor is fully open-plan with the hallway opening into a large living/dining/kitchen family space, offering a natural hub of the home for modern families. Complete with a brick fireplace, wood burning stove and sliding French doors opening onto the large private garden and patio, this flexible space also enjoys a cloakroom and utility room, easing the everyday stresses of busy family life.

Speaking of the newly dressed home, Sarah Merrison of Sarah Merrison Interiors comments:

“As you walk into the hallway at Ivy Cottage you are met with one of our favourite colours, the strong Farrow & Ball “Titmouse Blue” creating a bold entrance, along with statement lighting, a cream sideboard and Neptune artwork framing the doorway to the study.

In the living room, we used ‘Olive Tree’ from the Dulux Heritage range, teamed with two cream linen sofas, plump feather-filled cushions from The Pure Edit, cashmere throws and a huge coffee table which uses reclaimed Elm along with bronzed metal.  The dining room is dressed with an extravagant Zinc-topped refectory table along with linen dining chairs, and we’ve dotted the room with statement pieces full of fabulous textures.

The large shaker-style kitchen, in tones of grey, seamlessly flows from the dining room via a breakfast bar with carefully chosen rattan bar stools and denim coloured roman blinds, which run into a cosy, family seating area with striped armchairs.”

Upstairs, both the first and second bedrooms benefit from an en suite and mirrored fitted wardrobes. The third and fourth bedrooms are both generously-sized too, with access to a large family bathroom. Ivy Cottage also enjoys a landscaped front garden and electronically-operated garage.

Sarah continues: “In bedroom one we again used “Titmouse Blue” which made a beautifully striking background for the cream linen bed from Feather & Black.  We included a Christy velvet throw, pendant lighting and patterned cushions for depth.

Contrastingly we went for green, earthy tones in bedroom two, featuring Farrow & Ball “Bone” teamed with a nude-coloured upholstered bed and olive green accessories adding colour, creating a welcoming bedroom for guests. Tranquil green tones and light wood textures are also present in the fourth bedroom, with a statement four-poster bed and nature-themed artwork bringing the outside in.

In contrast to the rest of the home and enjoying this season’s invigorating colours, bedroom three has been designed with a horse-mad teenager in mind.  Careful use of a gentle pink colour is teamed with a bold, sumptuous orange velvet bed. Pale pink and orange cushions highlight the dressage horse artworks in orange, teamed with subtle hints of pink. And, of course, a winning rosette or two in mirroring colours!”
