The Evolution of an Incredible New Neighbourhood

As the community at Marleigh continues to grow and thrive, award-winning housebuilder The Hill Group will unveil a new collection of stunning five-bedroom houses on the 2nd March.  Highlighting Marleigh’s continued evolution, this is the start of the next release of homes in Jubilee Central. A chance to join this unique, close-knit neighbourhood, the latest launch presents an ideal opportunity to reflect on the milestones achieved at Marleigh and celebrate its vibrant and ever-growing community.

Hill welcomed over 70 new families to Marleigh in 2023 and a strong sense of place has been established. A cultural melting pot with residents hailing from ten different countries including Spain, India, China, Malaysia, Portugal, Australia and America, Marleigh stands as a testament to unity in diversity and Hill’s commitment to placemaking.

Marleigh’s community centre is the focal point for numerous organised events and groups, uniquely spearheaded by residents for residents. Reflecting the inclusivity that defines Marleigh’s blossoming community, proactive homeowners ensure that there is something for everyone. Regular events include ‘Move and Relax’ sessions hosted by Seweryn Ptak and table tennis matches organised by residents Deepak and his wife Megha. Created by Elizabeth Giles, a retired teacher, and Catrin Horrex, Minister for Marleigh, Marleigh International is a conversation group for those whose first language is not English.  Attendees meet regularly with the aim of gaining confidence and making friends while enjoying tea and cake.  Marleigh Neighbours’ Walk, which began in 2022 because some residents working from home wanted to stretch their legs and have some face-to-face interaction, meet on Fridays to get to know one another and enjoy the surrounding woodland.

For parents and carers, Marleigh Tots meets every Friday in school term time at Marleigh Primary Academy.  The group is supported by a WhatsApp chat, which brings together over 30 families with under 5s living at Marleigh, sharing news and forging connections. Additionally, in 2023, Marleigh Primary Academy reached the milestone of 100 pupils, reflecting the community’s commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for families.

Residents take the initiative to keep the community informed through communications like the Marleigh Collect, an informative leaflet reporting on community activities and news distributed to all households.

When Libby and Jiten Patel moved into their new house at Marleigh with their two young sons, Jack (three-years-old) and James (three-months) in 2023, they had no idea they were buying more than just a home.  Libby explains: “If we’d known what the community was like at Marleigh, that would have been the number one draw to moving here.  We were already sold on Marleigh’s other strengths and having lived in an apartment built by Hill previously, we knew the exceptional quality of the build.  What we didn’t foresee was that we’d be part of such a wonderful neighbourhood and make so many new friends. It’s an incredibly special place; we feel really connected to everyone living here.”

Rebecca Littler, Group Sales and Marketing Director at The Hill Group, comments: “What truly sets Marleigh apart is the proactive engagement of its residents. It’s not just a great place to live; it’s a flourishing new neighbourhood that thrives on diversity, connections, and a shared desire to create an enriching lifestyle for all.  Their commitment to fostering a sense of belonging has resulted in a community where everyone can find their niche.”

There will be 98 new homes in total at Jubilee Central, with two, three and four-bedroom houses launching later this year.  Many homes will be bordered by two of Marleigh’s beautiful public spaces: Gregory Park and Kingsley Park and selected homes will have stunning views of green open spaces. Additionally, there are leafy pathways that weave through the development and impressive parks that cover roughly the area of 44 football pitches. Allotments, new cycleways and sports pitches are also planned for Marleigh.

Each property benefits from bright and generously proportioned arrangements that elegantly deliver an impressive sense of space and light throughout. Other features include energy-efficient appliances, high levels of insulation and electric car charging points, with a number of homes with photovoltaic panels – aiming to reduce energy bills and help residents lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Flexible, open-plan layouts easily accommodate areas for working, relaxing and entertaining, and private rear gardens provide the option to extend the entertaining space outdoors. Stylish interiors have been designed to an exceptionally high standard and feature the usual precise attention to detail found in a Hill home.

In addition to new residential properties, Marleigh is home to Marleigh Primary School, Monkey Puzzle children’s nursery, the Co-op supermarket, R3form Pilates and authentic Italian deli Signorelli’s. The heartbeat of Marleigh is Jubilee Square, where most of the amenities can be found, while Cambridge’s wealth of shops, restaurants and leisure venues are just a short distance away. The city also provides plenty of scope for enjoying time outdoors, from punting on the river to relaxing in the greenery of Parker’s Piece, Midsummer Common and Jesus Green, all of which can be reached from Marleigh by bike within 15 minutes.

Debbie Wildbridge, Editor of the Marleigh newsletter, concludes: “The early construction of the community centre and primary school at Marleigh provided public spaces for the residents to come together immediately.  They’re very supportive of one another and have been very creative about how they make the most of the space. As new homes launch and we continue to welcome new families at Marleigh, the community will no doubt continue to grow.”

Prices of homes in Jubilee Central at Marleigh start at £949,950for a five-bedroom house.
